B. CAPTURE FISHERIES: Back

B.(1) MOTORISATION OF COUNTRY BOAT:

i) Brief Contact of the Scheme:

Our State has 7 coastal districts on the side of Bay of Bengal. Most of the fishermen depend on fishing for their livelihood. These traditional Marine Fishermen are being benefited by motorising their country crafts by which more fishing ground can be covered with less period of time, as a result of which the traditional fishermen can achieve better production both quantitatively as well as qualitatively by reaching the source early. The beneficiaries can be adequately self-employed under the above scheme as well as can give employment to another few.

iii) Other support (Training):

MPEDA is providing short course training to fishermen on hygienically handling, processing of fish onboard as well as on the shore.

iv) Eligibility of Candidate:

  • Poor Marine fishermen having a sea going craft.

  • The craft should be registered and licensed under OMFRA.

  • Within the age limit of 18 to 40 years.

v) Application Format:

No specific format has been prescribed for this project. The beneficiaries have to apply in plain paper alongwith details of craft and gear and other requirement to the respective Asst. Director of Fisheries, Marines/ FEO (Marine). The willingness of the bank finance is to be attached.

vi) Procedure for submission and approval of applications:

The applicant should submit the application to the Fishery Extension Officer of Marine Extension unit. After the verification, the F.E.O. (M) will sponsor the application to concerned Assistant Director of Fisheries, (Marine) which is then forwarded to the willing bank for sanction. The Assistant Director of Fisheries, (Marine) give commitment to place subsidy after release of loan in favour of the beneficiary.

  • Concerned Assistant Director of Fisheries, (Marine) through Marine Extension Officer at district level

  • Deputy Director of Fisheries, (Marine) at the Directorate of Fisheries, Orissa
