A. (6) BRACKISH WATER AQUACULTURE
i) Brief Content of the Scheme:
There are vast resources of Brackish Water in the coastal area of the state. To utilize the vast source of brackish water, suitable schemes of shrimp culture are being taken up. The beneficiaries can be adequately self-employed under the above scheme.

25% within a limit of maximum Rs. 40,000 per ha. from BFDA or Rs. 50,000 per ha. from MPEDA. Assistance limited to 5.0 ha. in both the cases.

iii) Other support (Training):
-
BFDA undertake training of fish farmers on scientific fish farming awareness in recent advances on shrimp farming, information of availability of quality prawn seed and other technical support for disease control etc.

MPEDA organizes training on shrimp culture.
iv) Eligibility:
The shrimp farmers of all categories will be eligible for taking up shrimp culture programme.
v) Application format:
As per final verdict of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Aquaculture authority of India (AAI) has been constituted as the Apex body to regulate shrimp culture in the country and accordingly, the State Level Committee and 7 nos. of District Level Committees has already been constituted in the State. The shrimp farmers intending to take up shrimp culture within CRZ area will apply in Form No. I and out side CRZ in Form No. III. The Processing Fee for Form No. I is @ Rs. 100/- per ha. and Rs. 200/- per ha. in case of Form No. III.
vi) Procedure for submission and approval of application:
The shrimp farmers should submit the Application Form (No. I / No. III) along with the Processing Fee in shape of Bank Draft, affidavit and CRZ certificate given by the concerned Tahasildar to the District Fisheries Officer – cum – CEO, BFDA/ FFDA of the coastal district for processing. The District Level Committees will send these applications to State Level Committee. Then the State Level Committee will send the application to Aquaculture Authority of India for final approval who will issue license/ approvals in favour of the beneficiaries.
