Implementation of marine Fishing Regulation Act

The Orissa Marine Fisheries Regulation Act is being implemented in the State to safeguard the coastal water area of the state. Registration of trawlers, gillnetters, traditional crafts, Renewal of License and conservation of turtle species are being taken up.

For development of water logged areas in the coastal district as well as land logged district I.e. in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh & Sambalpur District which needs scientific intervention. The awareness programme and graining will be taken-up for farmers & Entrepreneurs to bring such wetland, resources in to the fold of scientific culture.

Integrated Development of Inland Capture Resources. (Reservoir/Rivers) (25:75)

To increase fish production in the reservoirs, fish seed rearing unit, Cage and Pen culture as well as training to be given for sustainable management & operation of Reservoir. Crafts & gear to be provided to fishermen alongwith construction of fish landing sheds

A medium scale Prawn hatchery with a minimum capacity of 25 million per annum is proposed in the state for export of giant fresh water prawn, called scampi at commercial scale
